Phil Fryer and Sue Smith started TINTINTIN and the Reds in 1985, the band played several gigs in Oxford. In 1986 Bob (still in Barmy Army) started helping "The Reds" as sound engineer then when the bassist left he stepped in, by late '86 ex-Raindance, B.A.'s, Bob was joined by Neal on drums. In '89 Cath ex Sax Machine (a 12 piece all girl sax ensemble) added the missing sax after Ali departed. As this line up "Tins" played local gigs - party's as well as the ever shrinking free festival circuit, not to mention the near disaster gigs ( Fire, Flood and being paid to stop, etc...) started Klub Kakofanney in '91, at Ruskin Hall, Oxford. Then when Joe Ryan moved to the Elm Tree they took up monthly residence, musik from the madhaus prevailed.

Klub Kakofanney is still a monthly live music club. Its has retained it's experimental, anything-goes attitude to promotion and has outlived almost every venue in Oxford, having move home a number of times, now resides at the new venue of The Wheatsheaf in the city centre. It remains one of the local music scene's best-loved institutions with a large and loyal regular crowd.
